Your plan looks great! Have you thought about including parents in one of the surveys to get their perspective on homework? This can give you some insight into what is going on at home that could help/hinder student homework completion. You may find that parents could be used as a motivator for students.
ReplyDeleteI have thought of that. I figured to get some more imput from my committee to see how we might address that variable. Thanks for the feedback
ReplyDeleteHi Tim,
ReplyDeleteI'm also working with surveys and you may have already thought of this but I thought I would mention it... Our district uses Survey Monkey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/)for us to give anonymous feedback on professional development sessions... It's online and quick and you may find teachers appreciate being able to log on quickly and submit their opinions... Our curriculum specialist said we paid for a subscription that they will let me also use for my project but I'm pretty sure there is a free account option as well... Good Luck with your Research!! :-)
Your plan looks great! I was going to suggest the same idea Ashley made. I would survey the parents too. I also wanted to share and idea that is currently implemented in our school called ZAP-zeros are not permitted! Teachers identify students that do not turn in homework and the counselors pick them up before lunch time and take them to a room to do their unfinished work during their lunch period. We are currently just doing it with the 9th graders and it has proven to be successful.
